I am so happy you stopped by!  My name is Lisa and I couldn’t be more excited to share my love of holistic nutrition with you!  This blog is about eating plant based in a real world.

        …a little grace                                                                        

It isn’t always easy to stick to a completely plant-based diet and that’s ok!  If you know me, you’ll know that I have a deep love for cheese (it’s probably my biggest vice). Giving myself a little grace in this area has definitely helped me stay on track with a mostly plant based lifestyle. Would it be best to stay away from cheese altogether? Of course… but if it’s between having a little cheese with my date night wine or throwing in the towel and going back to the standard American diet… I’ll take the cheese. We need to give ourselves a little wiggle room so we are more likely to stick with plant based for the long term.

              Life-sustaining, energy giving… 

One of my favorite things in the world is food, not only because it is life sustaining, energy giving, nourishes our whole body and tastes great, but because it brings people together. What I want to explore with you is the beautiful world of plant-based cooking as we prepare the most colorful, vibrant and gorgeous foods that not only taste amazing but are packed with powerful vitamins and minerals that give us more energy, promote healthy digestion and makes our skin glow! I am excited to explore the world of all things plant based with you and hopefully change some minds along the way when it comes to eating plants!

My personal journey. 

I grew up in a Michigan suburb, the youngest of six with great parents.  Mom always made it a point to prepare meals from scratch for her large family. Sitting at our table of eight was cozy as she lovingly fed us delicious hearty meals that would keep us full and satisfied.  We were lucky to always have some delectable home-made dessert too!  This is where my love affair with food began. After starting a family of my own, I realized it was important to prepare homemade meals just like mom did.  This really started my journey with creative cooking, but not always the healthiest. After I started noticing some health changes in myself, I was soon exploring a whole new world of information and eye-opening studies I had never seen before. I adopted a plant-based lifestyle and my life changed! Back was my energy, healthy digestion and overall I just felt good. This lead me to really study the implications of our food choices and ultimately lead me to study holistic nutrition and follow my heart by becoming a Certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant.
